Mutmonster
Two actors tell the story of Maya, who came to Germany from France at the age of 8.
The first day of school in the new class overwhelmed Maya and because of the unfortunate misunderstandings caused by the language barrier, she felt insecure and soon couldn’t speak another word. This bad start makes it difficult for her to find new friends and to understand what is being taught at school, and so she withdraws more and more. Her parents, both of whom are very busy in their new jobs, only gradually notice Maya’s fears. To top it all off, she also meets a monster. However, the monster turns out to be a great ally, quite helpful friend – it turns out to be a “courageous monster” that helps Maya overcome her fears. At the end of the piece, the two not only have a lot of fun together, but the monster helps Maya to find a connection in the class and to approach the other children despite the language barrier.

Zwei Schauspieler:innen erzählen die Geschichte von Maya, die mit 8 Jahren von Frankreich nach Deutschland kommt.
Der erste Schultag in der neuen Klasse überfordert Maya und durch unglückliche Missverständnisse, welche durch die sprachliche Barriere entstehen, fühlt sie sich verunsichert und bringt bald kein Wort mehr heraus. Dieser schlechte Start macht es ihr schwer neue Freund:innen zu finden und den Schulstoff zu verstehen und so zieht sie sich mehr und mehr zurück. Ihre Eltern, die beide im neuen Job beruflich sehr eingespannt sind, bemerken erst nach und nach Mayas Ängste. Zu allem Überfluss und der Angst die sie ohnehin schon hat begegnet ihr dann auch noch ein Monster. Das Monster entpuppt sich jedoch als ein großartiger verbündeter, ziemlich hilfreicher Freund – es entpuppt sich als Mutmonster, das Maya dabei hilft ihre Ängste zu überwinden. Am Ende des Stücks haben die beiden nicht nur viel Spaß zusammen, sondern das Monster hilft Maya Anschluss in der Klasse zu finden und trotz Sprachbarriere auf die anderen Kinder zuzugehen.
